A brief and general history of Morrow County from the Native American inhabitation through the 1960s. Chapters are arranged chronologically from Euro-American explorers through the 1950s and 1960s. Material was compiled from primary and secondary sources.

Articles are written from a tribal perspective, they begin with ancient teachings and traditions, moving to the period of first contact with Euro-Americans, the Treaty Council, war and the reservation period, and then to 21st century tribal governance.

A brief history of the involvement of Irish families in establishing Morrow County during the 19th and early 20th centuries. A brief article on Irish nomenclature is included, as well as brief histories of Irish families in the county. Parts were reprinted from an article originally published in the Oregon Historical Quarterly.

An Oregon Centennial Year project, club members decided they wanted to know more about the county. Historians were appointed in each club. Regional editorial boards checked information accuracy. Publication provides a brief, general history of Morrow county beginning with early Euro-American settlers in the area through the mid-twentieth century. Chapters are arranged thematically with emphasis on nineteenth century everyday life, the development of public services and utilities, and the development of towns in the county. Material was collected from memory, and secondary sources. The book was the asis of a centennial pageant presented April 30, 1959 at the annual Homemakers Festival at the Ione Grange Hall.

The authors tells the story of early roads from The Dalles to Walla Walla, and northeastern Oregon.

Publication consists of vignettes that were originally presented on the radio program Museum of the Air on radio station KUMA in Pendleton to promote interest in the histories of Umatilla and Morrow counties. Most of the material consists of early settlement of the area and Native Americans. Information was compiled primarily from oral histories.
