Historic Cemeteries Brown Bag Lunch
Discuss historic cemeteries issues, ideas, concerns and solutions with Dirk Siedlecki, Commission on the Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries. Meet June 30 at 12 noon at the Santo Community Center, Room 18, 701 North Columbus Ave. in Medford. Attendees should bring their own lunch. Coffee, bottled water and dessert will be provided.

Association for Gravestone Studies Conference
The 2010 conference, our thirty-third, will be held at Denison University in Granville, Ohio, June 22-27, 2009. Fellow enthusiasts will join together for an enjoyable, informative and fun five days of learning and camaraderie.

Cemetery Preservation Basics Workshop
9:00-3:00 Fort Klamath Cemetery
The FREE Cemetery Preservation Basics Workshop will involve learning how to approach preservation of a historic cemetery. The workshop will be geared towards people or groups that want to know the basics about how to plan and care for the historic gravemarkers. Packets will be provided to each person in attendance covering important aspects of cemetery preservation.

Twilight Heritage Celebration
Saturday, July 24, 2010 from 6:00pm-10:30pm
Bring a picnic and a blanket and come enjoy this 30 acre arboretum in the heart of SE Portland while learning about the City of Portland Urban Forestry program and the Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery . Visit the three heritage trees being dedicated by Commissioner Fish: the lone Douglas fir for which the cemetery was named, the General Lane maple, and a 100-ft-tall cedar. Metro Council President David Bragdon invites you to stay and enjoy featured artists from the Lone Fir Cemetery CD "Dearly Departed" and then watch the screening of the documentary "Come Together Home" by Ivy Lin. Come learn about the early Chinese settlers and rail workers who were interned and later disinterred at Lone Fir Cemetery and the plans for a memorial park on the sacred site known as Block 14.

The Clark County Genealogical Society in Vancouver, WA and partners are hosting the seminar, contact CCGS at 360-750-5688 for more information. Day one includes a tour of Vancouver Granite Works and day two includes monument cleaning workshop.

Dora Cemetery Work Party
A work party is scheduled at the Dora Cemetery in Dora, Oregon from 8:00 a.m. to
2:00 p.m. for maintaining and improving the cemetery grounds. Please bring your
yard tools. You can contribute by volunteering, bringing food/beverages,
coming and reminiscing about ole times and/or provide a tax free charitable
donation.
